Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in network automation, network programming, or Software-Defined Networking (SDN).
  • Experience in computer networking, including network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP), network topologies, and network management principles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of software projects that automate and manage Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE). Work closely with Network Engineers, Product Managers, and other Software teams to understand requirements, define technical solutions, and integrate new technologies.
  • Address open-ended technical challenges in network automation. Break down problems into clear designs and actionable development plans.
  • Mentor and guide other Software Engineers, fostering technical excellence, code quality, and a collaborative team environment.
  • Design, develop, and deploy robust, scalable, and reliable software systems. This includes building tools to automatically configure network devices based on goals, collect operational data from these devices, and enable programmatic control over network operations.
  • Ensure the software built is reliable, maintainable, and performs at Google, contributing to the overall stability and efficiency of our global network.
