Near Field Communication (NFC) is a radio technology that is used by users for making digital payments. The team is building the NFC software stack for Android in collaboration with various Android Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs), NFC chip vendors and apps (e.g., Google wallet) for delivering quality user experiences for NFC technology usage.The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world’s most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain Android NFC stack for both first-party and third-party devices.
- Collaborate with internal, external and partner teams to refine and define the NFC stack and scale it to the industry.
- Help to build the next generation of NFC Application programming interfaces (APIs) and libraries for first-party and third-party developers.
- Improve wallet/payment user journeys in the Android ecosystem that use NFC.
- Partner and collaborate with related engineering teams, product management, and program management to ensure the development of quality solutions.
