Migration Architect: Convert SAS to Python, optimize data flow, ensure script integrity, and train teams in Python for Suadeo’s DataMesh strategy.
Job Description / Role
Existing System Analysis:
- Map the current application developed in SAS.
- Identify dependencies, business rules, and critical processes.
Migration Design:
- Propose a target architecture in Python aligned with Suadeo’s DataMesh strategy and federated governance.
- Contribute to drafting technical specifications.
Development and Optimization:
- Convert SAS scripts to Python using best practices in data engineering.
- Optimize data flow performance by leveraging relevant Python libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Dask, PySpark, etc., as needed).
Testing and Validation:
- Ensure the integrity of results after script conversion.
Documentation and Knowledge Transfer:
- Write technical documentation on new scripts and data pipelines.
- Train internal teams on new Python practices to ensure full tool adoption.
Requirements
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Strong expertise in SAS: ability to create complex scripts, use macros, and manage analytical models.
- Proficiency in Python: especially for migrating ETL pipelines or statistical models.
- Familiarity with Python libraries for data manipulation and analysis (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy).
- Knowledge of cloud environments and Kubernetes (an asset for integration into containerized systems).
- Experience with version control tools (Git, GitLab).
ABOUT YOU:
- Ability to work collaboratively in an agile SAFe environment.
- Autonomy and proactivity in identifying and solving issues.
- Strong communication and teaching skills for effective knowledge transfer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree (Bac +5) in computer science, statistics, or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience working on projects involving SAS and Python.
- Experience in similar migration projects is highly valued.
