About the role

Reporting to the General Manager the Head of Property will lead the strategic direction development and profitable growth of the property portfolio. The role requires a commercially driven leader with deep technical knowledge and strong market presence to optimise underwriting performance drive new business acquisition and close high-value opportunities. You will be responsible for enhancing product offerings and building trusted relationships with cedents brokers and reinsurance partners to expand market share and respond to evolving demands.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning & Portfolio Management
    • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve growth and profitability for the property portfolio.
    • Stay ahead of market trends competitor activities and regulatory shifts to keep strategy adaptive and forward-looking.
  • Business Development & Acquisition
    • Identify target and secure new business opportunities across key markets.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with cedents brokers and reinsurance partners to drive new revenue streams.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead mentor and develop the property underwriting team to achieve high performance.
    • Provide technical training and leadership guidance to strengthen team capability.
  • Product Innovation & Development
    • Oversee the development and refinement of property reinsurance products to match market needs.
    • Ensure offerings remain competitive client-focused and compliant with industry standards.
  • Risk Management & Compliance
    • Monitor portfolio risk and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
    • Ensure all practices align with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Financial Oversight
    • Meet or exceed annual business targets and financial goals.
    • Drive long-term profitability and sustainable portfolio growth.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a similar role within the reinsurance industry.
  • Bachelors degree in Business Management or a related field; a Masters degree is a plus.
  • Proven expertise in portfolio management risk management and technical reinsurance knowledge.
