Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and diagnose a wide range of ocular conditions
  • Perform advanced ophthalmic surgeries, including cataract, glaucoma, corneal, and retinal procedures (depending on subspecialty)
  • Manage acute and chronic eye diseases using evidence-based treatment plans
  • Interpret diagnostic imaging such as OCT, fundus photography, visual fields, and ocular ultrasound
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Collaborate with optometrists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated patient care
  • Educate patients on eye health, treatment options, and preventive measures
  • Maintain accurate and compliant medical records in accordance with Qatari healthcare regulations
  • Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical audits
  • Contribute to the training and mentorship of junior doctors, residents, and allied health professionals
  • Stay updated with advancements in ophthalmology and incorporate new techniques into practice

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution
  • Board certification in Ophthalmology
  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience
  • Proficiency in ophthalmic surgeries relevant to the candidate’s subspecialty
  • Strong communication skills with fluency in Arabic (required)
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, fast-paced clinical environment
  • Must hold or be eligible for Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP) licensing
