Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in software engineering, with experience designing and building large-scale, mission-critical systems.
  • Experience in a technical leadership role, mentoring and guiding senior engineers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 20 years of experience in relevant industries, with a focus on security, cloud computing, or a related field.
  • Experience with AI and machine learning, and a passion for applying these technologies to solve complex security challenges.
  • Deep expertise in one or more of the following areas: threat intelligence, security operations, incident response, or security engineering.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A strong point of view on technology leadership, research, and industry trends.

As a Distinguished Engineer and Uber Tech Lead (UTL) for GUSTO, you will be a premier technical authority and a key partner to the leadership of Google Cloud Security. You will be responsible for defining and driving the long-term vision at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. In this role, you will be at the forefront of innovation, addressing the most complex and evolving security threats with the power of AI. You will have the resources and support of Google to conduct groundbreaking research and see your work have a direct and meaningful impact on the safety and security of billions of users and organizations worldwide.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $365,000-$505,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a long-term technical roadmap for the GUSTO, aligning with the overall goals of the security division.
  • Lead the design and architecture of highly scalable and reliable security solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, UX, and other engineering teams, to define product requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and industry trends, particularly in the areas of AI and security, and advise the organization on their potential impact.
