Managerial Task



  • Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures

  • Helps lead and implement the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes

  • Participates in the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes

  • Assists with scheduling and supports the Division Chief in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all times

  • Attends Divisional meetings as required

  • Assists the Division Chief in the recruitment of new medical staff when appropriate

  • Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Division Chief


Technical Task



  • Diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty. The Consultant Physician’s clinical duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversees the clinical activities of the junior medical staff and is assumes responsibility for the care they provide

  • Complies with all established hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices

  • Practices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources

  • Leads ward round; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice

  • Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures

  • Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required

  • Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required

  • Actively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe and holistic care for individual patients

  • Ensures preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consent

  • Accepts clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, specialty clinics, walk in patients, and patients referred from other hospitals


SEHA Compliance



  • Complying consistently with facility policies, procedures and practices and ensuring alignment with SEHA facilities policies.

  • Completing and maintaining regulatory requirements including: licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frame


SEHA Qualifications



  • Qualification from Tier 1

  • Qualification from Tier 2

  • Current national license or equivalent

  • Certified proof of yearly CME


Additional Qualifications



  • Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) and specialization in Pediatric Ophthalmology:

  • American Board, CCT UK, Australian Board, any Western Board, Fellowship or additional certification in Pediatric Ophthalmology:

  • Minimum of 5 years of post-specialization experience in Pediatric Ophthalmology:

  • Valid DOH (Department of Health – Abu Dhabi) License or eligibility.

  • Experience working within JCI-accredited hospitals is preferred.
