Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Mechanical Engineer –Mission Critical Facilities to join our Dubai office. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert and technical leader in data center design, leading multidisciplinary teams in delivering complex, high-efficiency, and resilient mechanical systems from concept to IFC.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the mechanical design team for data center projects, providing technical direction, mentorship, and quality assurance.
- Serve as the technical authority on all aspects of data center mechanical systems, including cooling, ventilation, and containment.
- Develop highly reliable, energy‑efficient cooling strategies (air‑cooled, liquid‑cooled, immersion, and hybrid systems).
- Ensure designs comply with international standards and Tier III / Tier IV certification requirements (Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, TIA‑942).
- Drive design innovation focused on sustainability, low PUE/WUE, and renewable energy integration.
- Oversee mechanical load calculations, system modeling, and equipment selection using BIM and CFD tools.
- Collaborate closely with electrical, structural, architectural, and specialist teams to deliver fully integrated designs.
- Engage with clients, present design concepts, and ensure project objectives, timelines, and quality expectations are met.
- Manage authority submissions, technical reviews, and design risk assessments.
- Support business development efforts and proposals for data center pursuits.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience, with at least 8 years dedicated to data center design.
- Proven expertise in data center cooling technologies and critical environment design.
- Certified in one or more of the following is an advantage: CDCDP®, DCDC®, ATD.
- Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, IES, and CFD platforms (6SigmaRoom, Autodesk CFD).
- Strong understanding of Uptime Institute Tier Standards, ASHRAE guidelines, and TIA‑942.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client‑facing skills.
- Commitment to innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement in design.
