We have staff across three campuses and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate taught and research degrees across a wide range of discipline areas. We are a global University and this is reflected in the way that we manage programmes and courses. What are we looking for

We are looking for highly motivated and qualified candidates as part of our exciting new academic fellowships programme. Applicants must have a doctoral qualification in Accounting or Finance and we anticipate that these roles will be most useful to the careers of those without significant teaching experience.

These posts will allow you to develop your portfolio of teaching and research experiences which will set you up for a successful career in higher education.

Our programme

As part of our fellowship programme we will provide a structured annual plan where you will be supported to enhance your skills across both teaching and research/scholarship. In return you will provide our students with an excellent learning experience, collaborate with colleagues and drive forwards research.

What you will be doing

  • You will undertake teaching of our undergraduate students. Candidates who have not taught before will initially take the form of team teaching with an experienced academic colleague.
  • You will work on your research inline with an agreed research plan that you will agree with your mentor.

What support you’ll receive

In support of teaching related activities our support includes workshops covering areas such as:

  • Teaching skills
  • Using technology in the workplace
  • Understanding different levels of study
  • Engaging students in the classroom
  • How to assess student work
  • Peer review of teaching and opportunity to observe colleagues

For research activities support includes:

  • Allocation to a research mentor who will support you in developing a publication plan.
  • Writing for publication.
  • Applying for research funding.
  • Invitations to seminars/workshops and the opportunity to deliver your own.
  • Networking.
  • You can apply on an annual basis for funding to attend an international conference where you have been accepted to deliver a peer‑reviewed paper.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertake teaching and assessment duties.
  • Contribute to the content design and delivery of the curriculum of our courses.
  • Deliver classes online to students.
  • Support accreditation processes.
  • Provide pastoral support recognising when to refer a student for further support.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments in research.
  • Build and conduct research in one or more of the School’s research areas.
  • Identify and apply for a research grant.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the UK at other campuses and with external networks.
  • Support Open Days and other student recruitment events.
  • Undertake continuous professional development (CPD) and participate in staff development activities.

Note that this job description is not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to undertake other relevant duties commensurate with the grading of the post and its general responsibilities. Activities may be subject to amendment over time as the role develops and/or priorities and requirements evolve.
