Job Purpose:
The role holder will drive overall new sales and business development strategy implementation within target markets (Primary – Middle East & Africa, Asia Pacific and Europe). We are looking for a commercially driven individual who is passionate about developing and sustaining relationships resulting in a sustainable pipeline. The role involves driving sales development across assigned global markets by finding, recruiting and developing new channel/wholesale partners, winning utility contracts and direct selling to established OEMs in the region. This is a dynamic, customer-facing role that requires travel across the region while understanding the route to market in each area.

Business Overview:
Lawson Fuses specialises in design, development and manufacture of low-voltage, high-rupturing capacity (HRC) fuse links and fuse holders. Sold directly and via distributors, applications cover electric and electronic capital equipment, utilities, renewable energy and domestic households.

Job Context:
Incorporated in 1938, Lawson Fuses Limited (LFL) is a global firm focusing on design, development and manufacture of Low Voltage High Rupture Capacity (HRC) fuses and fuse holders. Manufacturing facilities are in the UK and India, with global clientele in multiple regions. The customer segment includes Utilities, Wholesale Distribution and Original Equipment Manufacturers. LFL holds ISO 17025 ASTA certified R&D and ASTA certified manufacturing plants, emphasizing safety, quality and speed of delivery. LFL is part of the Lucy Group. Lawson Fuses is undergoing exciting change, and the Business Development Lead will influence the company vision.

Job Dimensions:
This role reports to the Business Head (GM) and works with cross-functional teams to implement the sales strategy. It leads end-to-end business development activities on assigned global regions with autonomy to drive strategy forward. Role Base: Hybrid, majority at Lawson Head Quarters in Newcastle upon Tyne and/or at customer locations, up to 50% international travel.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with the company’s yearly budget and medium-term plans
  • Create go to market strategies for new product launches within the assigned regions
  • Identify key partnerships in assigned regions to build long-term opportunities
  • Generate and qualify new leads through networking, research and outreach
  • Build key relationships with Utilities, Wholesalers and OEMs; monitor market trends and competitor updates
  • Manage and nurture long-term relationships to increase market share
  • Represent the company at key networking events, exhibitions and industry conferences
  • Oversee sales funnel and ensure follow-up and closure
  • Collaborate with UK sales, sales support and marketing to improve lead generation and conversion
  • Cross-functional collaboration with marketing, product and operations; provide market feedback on conditions, price and positioning
  • Lead, motivate and align sales team to meet targets; create a results-driven culture and monitor performance weekly and monthly
  • Track, analyse, report and publish key business development metrics
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports to leadership
  • Adopt best practices in CRM and use data to drive decisions
  • Support in preparation of yearly budget and medium-term plans

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Qualification in Business Management, Business Administration
  • Overall Experience Level: 10-12 years in new sales / business development
  • Ideally from UK and Europe
  • Industry Experience: Ideally from fusegear; open to electronics and switchgear candidates with power distribution company, wholesale and OEM exposure

Market Experience:
Global OEM business development experience with international/territory exposure in Middle East, Asia Pacific, Europe or combinations thereof.

New Business Development – Strategic Experience:

  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop credible medium-term plans with clear vision, goals and strategies
  • Analyse market trends, customer behavior and identify gaps/opportunities
  • Develop credible annual business plans with execution paths
  • Foster long-term relationships with customers and partners globally

Sales – Technical Experience:

  • Experience in qualifying fusegear products with global utilities and OEMs
  • Experience in penetrating major global OEM accounts, especially in Europe, Middle East and Asia; experience in Africa/India/Australia/NZ is an added advantage
  • Experience in growing OEM markets for fusegear across varied industries and applications
  • Experience in identifying and growing partnerships via wholesalers and/or value-added resellers
  • Candidate with a strong existing network will be preferred

Sales – Tactical Experience:

  • Drive sales to monthly, quarterly and yearly targets with sustainable growth
  • Collaborate with sales support on presales and post-sales activities; improve win-ratios on tenders
  • Generate monthly, quarterly and annual reports for board decisions
  • Build and manage partner networks with clear expectations and performance tracking
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to move opportunities to closure

Soft skills:
Strong business development and communication skills with analytical and problem-solving aptitude. Desirable traits: progressive, tenacious, results-oriented, collaborative, agile and flexible.
