The Associate HR Business Partner works closely with the HRBP to formulate an effective partnership with education leaders to develop and improve P&O deliverables in schools and align the organization’s business objectives. They build a deeper understanding of their cluster and support the HRBP by providing advice to the clusters and implementing employer branding, employee engagement and talent management initiatives.
Talent Identification, Succession Planning and Performance Management
- Support succession‑planning processes to identify and mobilize talent for movements within the GEMS network
- Maintain records for talent initiatives including 9‑box grid, leadership databases and talent pipelines
- Support internal talent branding and attraction strategies
- Maintain up‑to‑date HR cluster dashboard(s) and implement action plan to address key areas
- Advocate efficient performance‑management process in schools, across all staff categories
- Work in partnership with HRBP on implementation of the PDP for the assigned cluster
Recruitment & Retention
- Ensure school leadership hiring is aligned with internal talent mapping and external pipelining projects
- Maintain alignment with the cluster‑level recruitment plan and coordinate with the central recruitment team
- Maintain a central record of key vacancies
- Facilitate annual intentions process, perform data analysis and study exit trends to implement best‑suited retention and recruitment strategies
- Facilitate quality assurance on exit process periodically to support improved retention year on year
Culture & Employee Relations
- Coordinate the organization’s climate‑survey actions and monitor the pulse of the organization to anticipate issues
- Represent and advocate core values through all people‑focused initiatives in schools
- Promote and contribute to staff wellness and wellbeing programs and initiatives
- Support HRBP in managing employee issues and whistle‑blower reports
- Support HRBP in implementing GEMS separation procedures, grievance, and discipline policies in assigned schools
HR Operations & Compliance
- Liaise with the GR team to provide up‑to‑date knowledge of employment law and regulatory expectations
- Ensure employee reconciliations are performed by schools
- Drive safer recruitment policy compliance across GEMS MENASA network, including ongoing advice to schools and coordinating trainings as needed
- Conduct safer recruitment audits periodically and analyse findings, recommending action plans for improvements in partnership with HRBP
- Build knowledge of legal requirements related to day‑to‑day management of employees and P&O policies, thereby reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
Reporting & Data Analytics
- Own HR data for the assigned cluster(s) and drive ongoing improvement and maintenance of data quality
- Support implementation of HR automation projects and collaborate with ERP, data‑analytics and HR projects teams to deliver core automation business objectives
Skills & Experience
- At least 3 years of HR Generalist experience
- Good communication skills
- Emotionally intelligent and capable of handling complex situations
- Analytical and strategic thinking abilities
- High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted strategic projects alongside day‑to‑day tactical activities
- Ability to work with diverse personalities, tactful and mature
- Results‑oriented with judgement to balance other business considerations; service‑oriented yet assertive/persuasive
- GEMS Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and staff. A UK‑enhanced DBS or equivalent police check is a pre‑requisite for all appointments.
