Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development in the area of consumer electronics or other embedded systems.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 4 years of experience in power or performance modeling, or systems performance analysis.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience with embedded system development, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and microcontrollers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 4 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
  • Experience with code optimization techniques, including Single Instruction, Multiple Data (SIMD) (e.g., Neon, DSP).

With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

We are building the camera system software layers running below android camera public APIs for Pixel phones, which offer full camera functionality for Google Camera App (GCA) and all third-party camera apps.

In this role, you will drive camera firmware architecture and implementation, design the system to meet low-latency and deterministic timing requirements for functions like image capture, sensor control, and frame-rate management using RTOS features (semaphores, mutexes, task priority, and interrupt handling). You will also develop the software stack for Android Camera Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), implementing Pixel features and device drivers for hardware IPs. You will optimize camera performance, power, and memory.

The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
