Aston Education is working with The School of Research Science, a thriving and vibrant international school in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. They are looking for a full-time Head of Year to start in August 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an excellent Teacher of Maths, Science, Humanities or English or a middle leader to develop their leadership skills in supporting colleagues in strengthening their practice.

About the School

The School of Research Science is a thriving and popular international school for students aged 3–18. They opened their doors 25 years ago and have over 3000 students today. The student cohort is a diverse range of nationalities together with a high proportion of Emirati Nationals. The school is committed to excellence, inclusivity, and community. They follow the British Curriculum from EYFS to KS5 and offer excellent modern facilities. The school’s key focus areas include mastery in literacy and numeracy, inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and problem‑solving. The Leadership Team fosters a culture of collaboration, respect, and professional growth.

المسؤوليات

  • Promote high academic expectations for all students within a year group and monitor the academic progress of students across subjects using assessment data and progress tracking systems.
  • Identify underachievement within a year group and coordinate appropriate interventions in collaboration with teachers, department leaders, and the leadership team.
  • Take primary responsibility for the pastoral care and well‑being of students within a year group and monitor attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and well‑being. Build strong, positive relationships with students and promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and belonging.
  • Teach Maths, Science, Humanities or English across KS3, KS4 and KS5 and prepare the students for IGCSE and A level exams.

Skills and Qualifications

  • PGCE and QTS / QTLS
  • Degree in Maths, Science, Humanities or English
  • Successful UK teaching experience in Maths, Science, Humanities or English at secondary school level
  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for Maths, Science, Humanities or English
  • An outstanding classroom practitioner with an excellent track record of progress and results
  • Proven track record of raising educational standards and achievement
  • Understanding how to analyse and use data effectively
  • Commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and community
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
