Overview

Research Assistant Professor (Molecular Entomologist) at United Arab Emirates University, Department of Family Medicine. The KCGEB is recruiting an outstanding scientist (PhD) with demonstrated excellence in molecular entomology to lead a research team and conduct research in bio-control, molecular biology, physiology, and genetics of insect pests (e.g., red palm weevils), and to develop strategies and applications of biological control and genome-editing for crop protection and pest control.

• Lead a research team and conduct scientific research in molecular entomology and bio-control.
• Conduct research on molecular biology, physiology, and genetics of insect pests (e.g., red palm weevils) and related species.
• Develop strategies and apply biological control and genome-editing technologies for crop protection and pest control.
• Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and contribute to grant proposals.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and supervise students/postdocs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in entomology or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of postgraduate experience.
• Demonstrated scholarly productivity in molecular entomology and biocontrol.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in pest management using molecular, immunological, or protein assays.
• Strong background in biology of insect pests.

Skills

• Basic entomology skills: rearing, feeding, analysis.
• Ability to work independently and in multicultural teams.
• Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and projects.
• Proven experience writing and editing peer-reviewed manuscripts.
