Sharjah Architecture Triennial (SAT) is a regional platform for architecture from West and South Asia to North and East Africa. Physically anchored in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, with Al Qasimiyah School as a main venue, it aims to engage diverse audiences and stakeholders at the neighbourhood, host city and regional levels in a collective conversation on architecture. SAT programming opens new space for critical reflection through exhibitions, publications, research, public programmes, and community-based activities, in addition to Triennial editions. Job Summary <\/b> <\/p>\n
Sharjah Architecture Triennial is seeking for a self-motivated Architect and Programme Coordinator to plan, design and oversee the adaptive reuse and structural repairs of its venues, in alignment with institutional priorities. The role involves contributing to initiatives that support the institution\u2019s mission and public programmes, as well as assisting in the preparation and production of the successive Sharjah Architecture Triennial editions. This includes liaising with participants and curators, facilitating the enrichment, development, planning, and production of their work. <\/p>\n
Main Responsibilities <\/b> <\/p>\n
\u2022 Work on adaptive reuse projects at various stages of completion. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Engage in time management and efficient phasing of projects to meet design and construction deadlines. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Support the senior architect throughout the various phases of the design process <\/p>\n
– Conduct field and literary research, and prepare concept and schematic packages, including drawings, renderings and models <\/p>\n
– Validate project design documentation, plans, elevations, renderings, visualizations and models <\/p>\n
– Review detailed drawings and shop drawings by execution architects and or contractors for architectural projects and exhibitions <\/p>\n
2. Exhibition Design <\/p>\n
\u2022 Contribute to exhibition design, and the design of exhibition elements. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Work on interior and exterior space preparation, as needed for exhibitions and events. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Assist in the development, detailing, and production of architecture installations during the Sharjah Architecture Triennial editions. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Conceive interior and exterior lighting strategies, and coordinate the design of a cohesive set of interior elements and furniture. <\/p>\n
3. Production <\/p>\n
\u2022 Plan and execute projects in accordance with the required scope of work. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Liaise with execution architects, vendors, and contractors to develop project details and source materials and services. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Coordinate with participants and contractors to ensure effective communication and seamless project execution. <\/p>\n
4. Programming <\/p>\n
\u2022 Conceive ideas for events and collaborate with team members in brainstorming sessions. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Select and engage participants, meeting with them to formulate event content. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Coordinate logistics for events and ensure smooth execution. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Create and manage content for events and exhibitions. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Work closely with team members to understand the material needs of programs, including digital directories and workshop spaces. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Prepare briefs and present to various programs, make final selections, and manage implementation. <\/p>\n
5. Research <\/p>\n
\u2022 Conduct and coordinate research activities for various projects. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Produce graphics and visual materials to support research and program development. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Work on small exhibitions and seminars, contributing to both research and design aspects. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Participate in renovation projects, such as the ongoing school renovation, providing research and design support. <\/p>\n
6. Archiving <\/p>\n
\u2022 Coordinate the visual documentation of architecture and exhibition projects as needed. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Track, organize, and maintain project archives and physical models. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Assist with light administrative duties and ensure that drawing and model-making supplies are organized and replenished. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Contribute to the formation of a library on architectural detailing. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Update spatial and occupational guidelines for foundation venues to inform both subsequent designs and users. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Work with the Operation Coordinator on the bid process, and coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers, and suppliers. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Work with the Operation Coordinator on the site supervision of architectural projects and exhibition construction. <\/p>\n

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Design, or a related field. <\/p>\n

\u2022 Experience in managing and coordinating small exhibitions and seminars. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Hands-on experience in renovation projects and ongoing support tasks. <\/p>\n
\u2022 Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior team members and interns. <\/p>\n

\u2022 Proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino) and graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite). <\/p>\n
