<\/strong>The candidate is responsible for the teaching of accounting units in line with the academic standards offered across foundation to postgraduate courses at Curtin Dubai. The candidate is expected to have an approach to teaching that is student-centred and will be responsible for conducting tutorials, grading and other immersive learning experiences in accordance with established course outlines and lesson plans, besides maintaining student class attendance records and be available during student consultation hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching and Learning:
\u2022 <\/strong> Review and contextualise teaching resource received from Perth.
\u2022 <\/strong> Deliver lectures, seminars, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, and field excursions.
\u2022 <\/strong> Administer and grade exams, quizzes, assignments, and projects.
\u2022 <\/strong> Work closely with the Unit Coordinators in Perth and Head of School in Dubai to ensure cohesive unit delivery and alignment with overall program objectives.
\u2022 <\/strong> Participate in regular meetings and discussions with the Unit Coordinator in Perth and Head of School in Dubai to review unit content, teaching strategies, and unit deliverables.
\u2022 <\/strong> Ability to integrate real-world case studies and industry insights into the curriculum.
\u2022 <\/strong> Be available to meet with students during published office hours for additional support and guidance and provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve.
\u2022 <\/strong> Implement diverse teaching methods to enhance student learning.
\u2022 <\/strong> Work with staff and students in connection with teaching and learning issues.
\u2022 <\/strong> Ability to integrate current research into teaching practices to enhance student learning and engagement.
Academic Leadership:
\u2022 <\/strong> Oversee the delivery of the accounting program.
\u2022 <\/strong> Foster an environment of academic excellence and innovation.
\u2022 <\/strong> Coordinate and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
Student Support:
\u2022 <\/strong> Provide academic advising and mentorship to students within the program.
\u2022 <\/strong> Address student concerns, grievances, and provide support for academic success.
\u2022 <\/strong> Work with the academic departments on teaching and learning issues and academic integrity matters.
\u2022 <\/strong> Organise industry visits, guest lectures, seminars, workshops from industry professionals for students.
\u2022 <\/strong> Coordinate internships, practicums, and other experiential learning opportunities for students.
\u2022 <\/strong> Develop and implement strategies to support student retention and success.
Community engagement
\u2022 <\/strong> Develop and maintain partnerships with industry, community organizations, and other academic institutions.
\u2022 <\/strong> Promote the program through outreach and engagement activities.
RELATIONSHIPS
<\/strong>\u2022 Lead the teaching and engagements for the Accounting units at Curtin Dubai.
\u2022 Engage with the the Head of School \u2013 Business and Humanities, Director Learning & Teaching, and Unit Coordinators in Perth.
\u2022 Work and coordinate with the Unit Coordinators at Curtin Perth.
\u2022 Work with internal and external stakeholders in Dubai.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
<\/strong>\u2022 A doctoral degree in accounting or a closely related field (or nearing doctoral completion) from an accredited institution.
\u2022 Successful teaching experience with minimum of 5 years of experience and demonstrate teaching excellence and effectiveness at Undergraduate and Post Graduate Levels.
\u2022 Maintaining an active research portfolio with a track record of ISoLT\/Discipline specific publications in reputable Journals (preferably ABDC indexed journals and publications no older than five years) to comply with AACSB requirements.
\u2022 Demonstrated high quality experience in teaching and\/or industry and evidence of continuing personal and professional development.
\u2022 Demonstrated ability to develop rapport with students in a variety of learning contexts.
\u2022 Experience of working with a diverse range of students.
\u2022 Demonstrate ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
LOCATION AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
<\/strong>\u2022 This position is a full-time on-campus role.
\u2022 The role may entail travel to offsite locations for university engagements such as conferences, meetings, outreach, and partnerships to build the profile of the accounting program in the market.
