1. Position Summary <\/h3>\n

The Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmologist (Strabismus) provides specialized clinical and surgical management for children with strabismus and pediatric eye conditions. The role requires a Western-trained, Tier-1 consultant <\/b> able to deliver high-volume outpatient care and perform advanced strabismus surgery within a private sector environment focused on efficiency, quality, and patient experience. <\/p>\n

Tier-1 Accepted Qualifications <\/h3>\n

One of the following (or equivalent): <\/p>\n

  • UK CCT \/ CESR (Ophthalmology \u2013 Pediatric & Strabismus focus) <\/li>\n
  • American Board Certification (Ophthalmology + Pediatric Ophthalmology\/Strabismus fellowship) <\/li>\n
  • Canadian RCPSC Fellowship <\/li>\n
  • Irish CSCST <\/li>\n
  • Australian FRANZCO (with pediatric ophthalmology training) <\/li>\n
  • German Facharzt (Augenheilkunde \u2013 Pediatric\/Strabismus) <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Experience Requirements <\/h3>\n
      \n
    • 3\u20135 years post-consultant experience <\/b> in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. <\/li>\n
    • High surgical case volume in horizontal and vertical muscle surgery. <\/li>\n
    • Experience in private practice settings is an advantage. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Licensing <\/h3>\n

      • Eligible for DHA, DOH, or MOHAP Consultant License <\/b> (depending on emirate). <\/li>\n
      • Completion of DataFlow PSV and applicable authority exam\/exemption. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        3. Key Responsibilities <\/h3>\n

        Clinical & Surgical Care <\/h3>\n
          \n
        • Diagnose and manage the full spectrum of pediatric ophthalmic conditions, including:\n
            \n
          • Esotropia, exotropia, vertical deviations <\/li>\n
          • Amblyopia management <\/li>\n
          • Congenital and developmental eye disorders <\/li>\n
          • Pediatric cataract evaluation (if trained) <\/li>\n
          • Ocular motility disorders <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
          • Perform high-precision strabismus surgeries (horizontal\/vertical muscle, reoperations, adjustable sutures if trained). <\/li>\n
          • Conduct pediatric clinics, orthoptic assessments, and comprehensive pre\/post-operative care. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Cross-Functional Collaboration <\/h3>\n
              \n
            • Work closely with orthoptists, optometrists, anesthesiologists, and pediatric teams. <\/li>\n
            • Participate in case discussions and care-pathway improvements. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Private Sector Standards <\/h3>\n

              • Maintain excellent patient communication and family counseling. <\/li>\n
              • Deliver efficient, high-patient-volume outpatient services. <\/li>\n
              • Maintain accurate EMR documentation (e.g., Medcare, EPIC, Cerner depending on facility). <\/li>\n
              • Uphold international safety, infection control, and clinical governance standards. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
