Whether it\u2019s streamlining operations, enhancing customer experience, or reimagining internal systems \u2014 we want people who can make Careem work smarter and move faster. <\/p>\n<h3>About The Role <\/h3>\n<p>As a Staff Data Scientist I \u2013 ETA, you will own the end\u2011to\u2011end ETA prediction systems for Careem\u2019s Food and Groceries verticals. This is a highly technical Individual Contributor role with full domain ownership across architecture, modeling strategy, experimentation, production deployment, and operational excellence. <\/p>\n<p>You will define the long\u2011term vision for ETA systems in high\u2011load, latency\u2011sensitive marketplace environments. You will design and implement multi\u2011stage stochastic pipelines that model preparation time, assignment delay, pickup time, travel time, batching, and pooling effects delivering reliable, calibrated predictions at scale. This role requires deep expertise in time\u2011series forecasting, deep learning, and operations research combined with strong production experience in distributed and real\u2011time systems. You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Marketplace, and Operations leaders, ensuring ETA becomes a core competitive advantage in Careem\u2019s Everything App. <\/p>\n<h3>What You\u2019ll Do <\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>ETA Vision &#038; Architecture Ownership <\/li>\n<li>Define and own the long\u2011term technical vision for ETA systems across Food and Groceries. <\/li>\n<li>Architect scalable, multi\u2011stage pipelines. <\/li>\n<li>Design probabilistic and stochastic modeling approaches with uncertainty calibration and reliability guarantees. <\/li>\n<li>Establish modeling standards and best practices for ETA across the organization. <\/li>\n<li>Advanced Modeling &#038; Algorithm Development <\/li>\n<li>Develop and deploy production\u2011grade ML systems leveraging:\n<ul>\n<li>Deep learning architectures <\/li>\n<li>Time\u2011series forecasting <\/li>\n<li>Graph\u2011based and routing\u2011aware models <\/li>\n<li>Operations research techniques <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Build models robust to marketplace volatility and supply\u2011demand shifts. <\/li>\n<li>Optimize for both point accuracy and distributional correctness (confidence intervals, tail control). <\/li>\n<li>Continuously improve system performance under high traffic and low\u2011latency constraints. <\/li>\n<li>Production Systems &#038; Real\u2011Time Inference <\/li>\n<li>Design and deploy scalable real\u2011time inference pipelines. <\/li>\n<li>Ensure model reliability, monitoring, alerting, and graceful degradation under load. <\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with Data Platform and ML Ops teams to productionize models using Spark, Trino, Python, and distributed frameworks. <\/li>\n<li>Lead model lifecycle management, retraining strategies, and performance tracking in live environments. <\/li>\n<li>Experimentation &#038; Marketplace Impact <\/li>\n<li>Define clear evaluation frameworks aligned with business metrics (conversion, cancellations, fulfillment efficiency, customer trust). <\/li>\n<li>Design and run controlled experiments to measure ETA improvements and marketplace impact. <\/li>\n<li>Drive measurable improvements in operational efficiency and user experience through data\u2011driven insights. <\/li>\n<li>Technical Leadership &#038; Cross\u2011Team Influence <\/li>\n<li>Lead cross\u2011team architectural discussions. <\/li>\n<li>Conduct design reviews and raise the technical bar for modeling quality and system robustness. <\/li>\n<li>Mentor senior data scientists and engineers in advanced ML and modeling techniques. <\/li>\n<li>Contribute to Careem\u2019s applied AI community through technical talks, documentation, and research initiatives. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What You\u2019ll Need <\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>8+ years of experience in Applied Machine Learning or Data Science, with significant experience building large\u2011scale production systems. <\/li>\n<li>Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field. <\/li>\n<li>Proven expertise in:\n<ul>\n<li>Time\u2011series forecasting <\/li>\n<li>Deep learning <\/li>\n<li>Stochastic modeling <\/li>\n<li>Operations research and optimization <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Strong experience building and deploying high\u2011load, low\u2011latency ML systems. <\/li>\n<li>Hands\u2011on proficiency in Python, Spark and ML frameworks. <\/li>\n<li>Experience with real\u2011time inference systems and model monitoring in production. <\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding of experimentation, A\/B testing, and causal inference. <\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to drive architectural decisions across teams. <\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex modeling trade\u2011offs into business impact. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What we\u2019ll provide you <\/h3>\n<p>We Offer Colleagues The Opportunity To Drive Impact In The Region While They Learn And Grow.
