Whether it\u2019s streamlining operations, enhancing customer experience, or reimagining internal systems \u2014 we want people who can make Careem work smarter and move faster. <\/h3>\n<h3>About the Role <\/h3>\n<p>As a Staff Data Scientist I \u2013 Matching, you will own the end\u2011to\u2011end matching and dispatch architecture for Careem\u2019s Food and Groceries verticals. You will design and implement real\u2011time assignment systems that optimize cost, SLA compliance, and marketplace efficiency at scale. <\/p>\n<p>This role sits at the core of the marketplace engine solving complex, multi\u2011objective optimization problems under uncertainty. You will build systems that dynamically match orders to captains, optimize batching and pooling decisions, and continuously re\u2011optimize as new information arrives. You will operate as a senior technical IC, leading architecture decisions, mentoring other data scientists, and setting optimization standards across the domain. <\/p>\n<h3>What You\u2019ll Do <\/h3>\n<h3>1. Matching &#038; Dispatch Architecture Ownership <\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Design and own the end\u2011to\u2011end matching and dispatch systems for Food &#038; Groceries. <\/li>\n<li>Architect scalable assignment frameworks incorporating:\n<ul>\n<li>Static and dynamic assignment <\/li>\n<li>Online matching under uncertainty <\/li>\n<li>Batch and pooling optimization <\/li>\n<li>Continuous re\u2011optimization with dynamic events <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Establish robust optimization standards and best practices across the organization. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>2. Multi\u2011Objective Optimization &#038; Algorithm Development <\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Formulate and implement multi\u2011objective optimization models balancing:\n<ul>\n<li>Cost minimization <\/li>\n<li>SLA compliance <\/li>\n<li>Marketplace efficiency <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Develop and deploy:\n<ul>\n<li>Min\u2011cost flow and assignment models <\/li>\n<li>Graph\u2011based optimization frameworks <\/li>\n<li>Custom solvers and OR\u2011Tools based solutions <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Incorporate stochastic elements and uncertainty\u2011aware decision\u2011making into assignment policies. <\/li>\n<li>Continuously refine matching quality under high\u2011scale marketplace conditions. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>3. Real\u2011Time Systems &#038; Production Delivery <\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Build production\u2011grade real\u2011time matching systems using Python, Spark, and Trino. <\/li>\n<li>Design scalable pipelines capable of handling large\u2011scale, high\u2011throughput marketplace events. <\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with Engineering and Platform teams to ensure reliable model serving and system performance. <\/li>\n<li>Lead performance monitoring, diagnostics, and system optimization. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>4. Experimentation &#038; Impact Measurement <\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Define evaluation metrics aligned with marketplace and operational objectives. <\/li>\n<li>Design and run controlled experiments to quantify matching improvements. <\/li>\n<li>Analyze system trade\u2011offs and communicate clear, data\u2011driven recommendations to Product and Operations stakeholders. <\/li>\n<li>Ensure decisions translate into measurable improvements in efficiency and SLA performance. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What You\u2019ll Need <\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>6\u20138+ years of experience in Applied Machine Learning, Optimization, or Data Science. <\/li>\n<li>Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field. <\/li>\n<li>Strong expertise in:\n<ul>\n<li>Optimization and assignment algorithms <\/li>\n<li>Graph modeling and min\u2011cost flow problems <\/li>\n<li>Multi\u2011objective optimization <\/li>\n<li>Dynamic and online decision systems <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Hands\u2011on experience with OR\u2011Tools or custom optimization solvers. <\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, and distributed data systems. <\/li>\n<li>Experience building real\u2011time or near\u2011real\u2011time decision systems. <\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding of experimentation and performance evaluation in marketplace systems. <\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain algorithmic trade\u2011offs in business terms. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What we\u2019ll provide you <\/h3>\n<p>We offer Colleagues the opportunity to drive impact in the region while they learn and grow.
