Reporting to the Diagnostics Manager, the DSL is the primary scientific point of contact for molecular diagnostics within assigned institutions and regions, building partnerships with healthcare professionals (HCPs), pathology and laboratory networks, and relevant stakeholders to optimise testing access, quality, and utilisation. <\/p>\n<p>With deep scientific knowledge of diagnostic tests and practical understanding of operational issues across the testing pathway (pre\u2011analytical, analytical, post\u2011analytical), the DSL engages in balanced and scientific exchange, identifies barriers and opportunities in the local diagnostic ecosystem, and translates insights to inform medical and diagnostic strategies. The DSL ensures the availability and correct use of in\u2011market companion and complementary diagnostics, fostering sustainable, high\u2011quality testing solutions throughout the patient journey. The role supports compliant education, evidence generation, and pathway optimisation to accelerate appropriate testing adoption and improve patient outcomes. <\/p>\n<h3>What You\u2019ll Do <\/h3>\n<h3>Build, enhance, and maintain advocacy with Key External Experts (KEEs) and stakeholders <\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify, prioritise and expand KEEs across oncology, pathology, molecular genetics, pulmonology, laboratory leadership and non\u2011traditional stakeholders (e.g., payers, policy makers, hospital administrators) based on scientific influence and potential to drive testing practice change <\/li>\n<li>Map patient care and sample journeys within priority accounts\/institutions, characterise multidisciplinary team maturity, and identify decision makers influencing testing protocols. <\/li>\n<li>Conduct objective and balanced scientific exchange discussions on biomarker biology, testing modalities, clinical pathways, and outcomes evidence to increase awareness of the clinical impact of testing. <\/li>\n<li>Identify and develop speakers and recommend advisory board\/round\u2011table participants to provide expertise on testing standards and protocols. <\/li>\n<li>Generate actionable insights on testing behaviours, barriers and opportunities and share with cross\u2011functional teams to inform planning and address unmet needs. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Build and implement diagnostic programmes to address unmet medical and diagnostic needs <\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Facilitate continuous medical education and execute compliant diagnostic programmes and materials that demonstrate clinical utility and outcomes to accelerate HCP adoption of appropriate testing. <\/li>\n<li>Define and refine the end\u2011to\u2011end patient and sample journey in each strategic account; identify main patient leakage points and implement solutions to remove access barriers for HCPs and patients. <\/li>\n<li>Expand availability of testing beyond companion diagnostics by identifying, validating and onboarding appropriate local\/central lab solutions and platforms, support lab readiness, capacity, and business continuity in collaboration with internal stakeholders. <\/li>\n<li>Support monitoring and improvement of testing quality and accuracy. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Contribute to medical and diagnostic strategy <\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide structured, timely feedback on local testing trends, unmet needs and competitor diagnostics, and translate insights into recommendations for account plans, medical priorities and evidence needs. <\/li>\n<li>Execute diagnostic activities within priority accounts to optimise impact on patient identification and treatment initiation. <\/li>\n<li>Deliver internal trainings on biomarkers, testing pathways, local ecosystem and quality considerations, as needed. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Facilitate local evidence generation <\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead or support local\/regional evidence generation on testing quality, clinical utility, turnaround time and biomarker prevalence and partner with evidence generation\/medical teams to address evidence gaps that influence adoption and guideline inclusion. <\/li>\n<li>Upon request, support feasibility, site selection and operations for clinical studies focused on diagnostics and testing pathways. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Corporate responsibility and governance <\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure compliance with AZ Code of Ethics, corporate governance, audit requirements, guidelines, industry codes, policies and procedures, and disclose potential breaches. <\/li>\n<li>Ensure that company confidentiality is maintained (i.e. intellectual property, product, strategic and salary information). <\/li>\n<li>Ensure patient confidentiality and safety are safeguarded. <\/li>\n<li>Ensure that all conducted activities are done in accordance with local legislation and corporate standards. <\/li>\n<li>Report health\/environment\/well\u2011being related accidents, adverse events and conflict of interest as per respective procedures and in a timely manner. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Essential for the role <\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in medicine, pharmacy, pharmacology, biomedical or life sciences (or equivalent) <\/li>\n<li>Minimum of 2 years\u2019 experience in diagnostics and\/or clinical testing markets <\/li>\n<li>Fluency in English <\/li>\n<li>Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills <\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate complex scientific information effectively across channels <\/li>\n<li>Excellent project management skills <\/li>\n<li>Excellent presentation skills <\/li>\n<li>High analytical and conceptual thinking <\/li>\n<li>Ability to work effectively in a matrix multi\u2011cultural organization and cross\u2011functional environment <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Desirable for the role <\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Oncology experience <\/li>\n<li>Postgraduate degree in molecular biology or related scientific discipline (e.g., M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D.) <\/li>\n<li>Experience with evidence generation (e.g., RWE, quality studies, biomarker prevalence), clinical or basic research, and KEE interactions <\/li>\n<li>Ability to influence without authority <\/li>\n<li>Training in oncology therapeutic areas, AZ products and pipeline and competitor landscape <\/li>\n<li>Expertise in the diagnostic\/biomarker testing process <\/li>\n<li>Experience in budget management <\/li>\n<li>Understanding of Medical Affairs department <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Why AstraZeneca? <\/h3>\n<p>At AstraZeneca we\u2019re dedicated to being a Great Place to Work.
