The candidate should be experienced in the provision of Psychiatry in an inpatient setting for adults & addictions. This includes but is not limited to the assessment and treatment of psychiatric conditions and disorders. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate evidence-based and patient-centred care in line with international guidelines.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent from an accredited school of medicine from a reputable Institution recognised by the relevant United Arab Emirates healthcare authority
• 3+ years of specialty training in an accredited psychiatry residency program
• 5+ years post qualification experience at Consultant level in clinical settings
• Board certification from US/UK/Canada
• Department of Health (DOH) license or eligibility
• Fluent in oral and written Arabic (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Review patients’ medical history and collect additional information from family members and psychologists as needed
• Evaluate patients’ emotional, behavioural and mental state through discussion, observation and analysis
• Identify mental disorders and determine best treatments
• Develop therapy plans
• Prescribe medications
• Analyse medical tests and track patients’ progress
• Coordinate with healthcare professionals when hospitalisation is required
• Advise patients on how to cope with mental diseases and emotional breakdowns
• Support patients’ loved ones and inform them about the patient’s condition
• Research medical issues and new medical treatments to update your knowledge on mental healthcare.
