Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role.
  • Leadership experience, such as people management, team lead, mentorship, or coaching.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with software life-cycles, building tools, and architecting and developing software for scalable, distributed systems, including data platform, AI/ML and infrastructure.
  • Experience as a pre-sales manager or a people manager in a technical customer-facing role within a professional services or sales engineering team.
  • Experience managing a team through sales processes, operations and career development, including account mapping, quota setting, quarterly/annual performance management, and managing sensitive information.
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders, including tailoring and delivering compelling messages by audience, asking questions, and leading conversations that drive business opportunity.

As a Customer Engineering (CE) Manager within the Strategic AI and Independent Software Vendor (SAISV) Go-To-Market team, you will lead a team of subject matter experts responsible for working alongside our customers. You will provide trusted technical and solution advice to accelerate workload migration and remove technical impediments.

You are an excellent motivator with the people management skills required to lead a group of engineering professionals and these professionals will engage with sales prospects, discover and assess customer requirements, prepare and present demonstrations of Google Cloud services, and address technical objections that arise throughout the sales process. Additionally, you are a confident presenter with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You maintain personal technical expertise and are prepared to engage directly with prospects as opportunities arise. You also possess the ability to work cross-functionally with product, support, engineering, and sales teams.Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $186,000-$261,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of customer engineers and build a growth culture focused on talent strategy and skills development to deliver successful cloud transformation outcomes for customers and accelerate business goals for your territory.
  • Foster partnerships with key customers across the book of business and provide leadership related to cloud, transformation and relevant industry trends.
  • Partner with Google Cloud Sales leadership to define technical go-to-market strategies and execution plans for the team’s book of business.
  • Balance technical leadership with operational excellence; lead workload and opportunity review meetings and provide insight into achieving technical agreements and migration strategies by working directly with customers, partners, and prospects.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across Google, partners, and team to resolve technical roadblocks including capacity needs, constraints, and product issues affecting customer satisfaction.
