This internship is intended for students in their penultimate academic year. To be eligible for this program, candidates must have an expected graduation date in 2027 to early 2028 and be available to work full time for 10-12 weeks during 2026 summer.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Engineering, or similar technical area of study.
  • Experience with installing a network or Linux system.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Japanese to facilitate collaboration and communication globally.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with hardware architecture, maintenance, and repair.
  • Knowledge of networking, including topology and protocol concepts.
  • Ability to work as a team member and collaborate with others to help resolve challenges.
  • Ability to learn new technical skills and domains.

As a Data Center Technician Intern, you’ll be a key part of the Data Center team, gaining experience by helping with the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware, including servers and their components and server software like Google’s Linux cluster. You’ll learn how to configure and manage network components such as routers, hubs, bridges, and switches. Additionally, you will be involved in manual movement and rack installation of equipment and may even have the opportunity to participate in, or lead, small project teams on larger installations. This internship is a fantastic opportunity to build a solid foundation in data center operations and network infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to repairs, upgrades, decoms, deployments, cabling, etc.
  • Identify trends for machine failure, report bugs, and work with remote teams to resolve them.
  • Contribute to projects in deployment, maintenance, and provide support for data center infrastructure.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Linux OS-related challenges on our servers and resolve critical or escalated technical challenges over a significant population of affected equipment.
