Job Summary (Major functions of the position)

  • 10+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer in a fabrication environment
  • Bachelor of Science Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, RAM Structural System, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in Risa 2D, Risa 3D, SAP 2000

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • S.E. preferred but not required
  • 10+ years of experience in the structural analysis and design of structural projects preferred
  • Experience in ETABS, is preferred but not required

Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analysis and design of steel and/or transportation structures for new construction and rehabilitation
  • Prepare technical/design reports and calculation packages
  • Prepare construction drawings and specifications
  • Attend design meetings and site inspections as needed
  • Collaborate with in-house drafters and engineers
  • Design structures and produce contract documents for various building types, retaining walls, foundations, and wastewater treatment plants
  • Coordinate with other departments for tender documentation
  • Gather information, set priorities, and prepare work plans
  • Estimate costs and prepare budgets based on plans and specifications
  • Obtain bids, specify materials, and negotiate with vendors and subcontractors
  • Maintain and update cost and price databases
  • Review and interpret system drawings and ensure compliance with tender requirements
  • Follow tendering procedures and standards
  • Review design outputs for contractual compliance
  • Assess impacts of design changes and revisions
  • Ensure project outputs meet codes and standards
  • Prepare and manage tender documentation
  • Maintain quality standards and documentation
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Contribute to team efforts and project success

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering

Desired Experience:

  • 3 years of design experience
  • Knowledge of fabrication and erection activities
