Job Purpose
Director within the Loan Capital Markets team focused on originating and executing primary corporate loans transactions with IB&M/WBG/PCG clients of the Bank. He / She shall work closely with relationship managers in Coverage as well as other internal stakeholders to further develop strategic relationships with a variety of obligors (corporates sovereigns family groups GREs investors and financial institutions) by identifying flow and structured lending solutions aligned to FABs risk parameters and targets.
Key Accountabilities
- Meeting Clients/Sponsors
- Originating structuring and executing new deals along with the coverage & credit team
- Take a proactive approach to deal origination and develop solutions that can form the basis of future business opportunities and help differentiate FAB vis–vis market competitors
- Review the existing loan portfolio client GKAPs and identify opportunities to secure existing loans business through a combination of refinancing and restructuring
- Analyse and scrutinise deal structures and underlying businesses through building and sensitising financial models, independent reports or other diligence to ensure that transactions are robust and meet the bank’s criteria
- Take the lead in negotiating terms with borrowers and other lenders whether at initial stage or at definitive documentation stage
- Work in a timely manner taking ownership of projects once allocated and delegating where appropriate
- Remain current and develop a view on market developments related to pricing structure economics and legal aspects
- Ensure internal reporting is accurate and timely and support the Head of LCM & SF on strategic initiatives including budgeting and business planning
- Help contribute to the GCF and IB&M budget in addition to cross selling opportunities for our GM Agency & DCM businesses
- Budgets and Plans
- Contribute to the preparation of the sub‑departmental budget and make the Head of LCM & SF aware of performance gaps with suggestions to rectify and improve performance
- Internal Collaboration
- Maintain strong internal relations and collaborate with Coverage partners (IB FI International PCG) in order to maximise revenue and deepen FABs relationships
- Develop service level targets and manage the coordination of the section with other departments to meet service expectations
- Policies Systems Processes & Procedures
- Implement departmental policies systems and procedure so that all relevant procedural/ legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality and cost‑effective service
- MIS and Reports
- Supervise and provide inputs in the preparation of timely and accurate sub‑departmental statements and reports to meet FABs and departmental requirements, policies and standards
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualification: Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related discipline
- Good knowledge of regional Loan Capital Markets and FABs products and business strategies
- Good understanding and working knowledge of debt markets and syndicated loan & debt capital market
Additional Information
Experience and Skills
- 7 years of experience in corporate lending transactions
- Excellent credit assessment skills including cash flow modelling and knowledge of accounting principles
- Good grasp of legal concepts with first‑hand experience documenting loan transactions (LMA standard documentation for syndicated deals)
- Has project managed multi‑party financing transactions and been involved in negotiating commercial terms
- Ideally relevant experience of working within the UAE/GCC or the Emerging Markets
- Effective communicator both written and verbal, able to present complex transactions concisely
- Ability to work under pressure, stay calm and adjust quickly to changing priorities
- Attention to detail and quality of work product
- Ability to build and develop relationships across the organization with clients and market participants
- Ability to train junior staff
