Based in Dubai | Operations across Africa (Angola & beyond)

A leading conglomerate with diversified operations across Africa — spanning Trading, Hypermarkets, FMCG, and Manufacturing — is seeking a dynamic and commercially astute Head of Procurement to lead and transform our procurement function at a group level.

This is a senior leadership role for a results-driven professional who thrives in complex, multi-geography environments and has the gravitas to influence at the highest level.

ABOUT THE GROUP

We are a high-growth conglomerate with a strong presence across Africa, with key operations in Angola and multiple other African markets. Our diverse portfolio spans retail, trading, FMCG distribution, and manufacturing, with a consolidated annual turnover of procurement exceeding USD $400 Million. Our headquarters and procurement leadership function are based in Dubai, UAE.

THE ROLE

As Head of Procurement, you will own the end-to-end procurement strategy across all business verticals and geographies. You will lead a team of procurement professionals, drive cost optimization, strengthen supplier relationships, and ensure procurement aligns seamlessly with the group’s financial and operational objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage the full Procure-to-Pay (P2P) cycle across all group entities
  • Develop and execute group-wide procurement strategies that deliver measurable cost savings
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives across direct and indirect spend categories
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a procurement team (minimum 5+ members)
  • Build and manage strategic supplier relationships, with a strong focus on African market suppliers
  • Negotiate high-value contracts with exceptional commercial acumen
  • Collaborate closely with Finance on cash flow management, working capital optimization, and payment terms
  • Ensure procurement compliance, risk mitigation, and governance frameworks are in placePartner with business unit heads across Trading, Hypermarkets, FMCG, and Manufacturing
  • Provide data-driven insights and procurement analytics to senior leadership
  • Oversee sourcing strategies for goods and services across UAE and Africa-based operations

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • 12–18 years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a senior/head-level role
  • Background from one or more of the following sectors: Trading | Hypermarkets | FMCG | Manufacturing (a mixed background is highly preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience managing procurement portfolios with an annual spend/turnover of USD $400 Million or above
  • Proven track record in managing and developing procurement teams of 5 or more
  • Deep expertise across the full Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process
  • Outstanding negotiation skills — able to secure the best commercial terms at scale
  • Strong financial acumen — solid understanding of cash flow, working capital, payment cycles, and budget management
  • Experience working in or sourcing from Africa, particularly Angola and Sub-Saharan markets, is a strong advantage
  • Currently based in the UAE or with significant UAE/GCC procurement experience
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent)
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
