Head of Teaching, Learning and Assessments

Responsibilities
- Ensure that the quality of TLA continues to move towards Outstanding across the school
- Ensure that high quality assessment leads to improvements in teaching and learning which in turn leads to improved student outcomes
4.1 Quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment (TLA)
- Ensure that the quality of TLA continues to move towards Outstanding across the school
- Ensure that high quality assessment leads to improvements in teaching and learning which in turn leads to improved student outcomes
4.2 Quality Assurance
- Ensure effective self-evaluation and Quality Assurance (QA) systems across the school
- Oversee the writing of all parts of the Self Evaluation Form (SEF) related to TLA
- Write improvement plans, based on self and external evaluation, relating to the quality of TLA
- Report to the Senior Team and Local Advisory Board (LAB) on the quality of TLA and implementation of improvement plans
4.3 Staff Development
- Ensure that areas of development identified through QA systems are addressed through appropriate staff training
- Lead the induction programme for new teachers
4.4 Student Outcomes
- Ensure that high quality TLA leads to improved student outcomes (academic achievement and development of key skills and attributes)
- Lead the examinations and data teams to develop efficient and effective systems that lead to improved academic outcomes
- Report to the Senior Team and LAB on the progress of students at all Key Stages and take appropriate action for improvement where necessary
- Provide appropriate advice and guidance to students around the time of their board examinations
- Ensure examinations and other assessments run smoothly for all students
4.5 Policies and Procedures
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor and Masters in any core subject
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Experience as subject HOD or experienced in leading teaching, learning and assessments in a multicultural school
- A thorough understanding and ability to demonstrate knowledge of National Curriculum for England
- Well-developed leadership and organisational skills
- Proven ability to use initiative, think strategically and adopt an active approach to problem solving
- Ability to respond and implement new policies and procedures
- Effective communication and strong leadership skills
- Innovative thinker with the ability to think laterally and find decisive solutions to problems
- Energetic, enthusiastic and resilient, with the ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively
