Job Title: Intellectual Property Operations Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional IP Operations Manager to lead and transform our intellectual property operations across multiple jurisdictions. This is a strategic leadership position offering complete operational oversight and the opportunity to build world-class IP service delivery systems.

As the operational backbone of our firm, you’ll bridge expert legal advisory with flawless execution, managing the entire lifecycle of IP matters from consultation through to final delivery. This role represents the highest non-partner operational authority with direct impact on firm growth and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

• Own end-to-end IP operations across trademarks, patents, copyrights, and industrial designs
• Lead cross-functional teams including Consultation, Execution, Operations/Prosecution, and Enforcement
• Ensure seamless coordination between internal teams, international branches, and foreign associates
• Drive operational excellence through process optimization and quality control frameworks

Strategic Management

• Translate firm strategy into executable operational workflows
• Implement technology solutions and automation to enhance service delivery
• Develop and monitor KPIs across all operational departments
• Lead capacity planning and resource optimization initiatives

Quality & Compliance

• Maintain 99%+ deadline compliance across all jurisdictions
• Enforce zero-tolerance quality standards with error rates below 2%
• Ensure full regulatory compliance with IP laws and professional standards
• Implement robust risk management and prevention protocols

Team Development

• Manage and mentor 20-30+ IP professionals across multiple specializations
• Build high-performing teams through coaching and professional development
• Conduct performance evaluations and drive accountability culture
• Foster collaboration and operational excellence mindset
• Achieve 95%+ client retention and 8.5/10+ satisfaction scores
• Serve as escalation point for complex operational matters
• Ensure timely, accurate delivery of all IP services per agreed timelines

What You’ll Bring

Essential Qualifications

• LLB/JD degree with 10+ years progressive IP experience
• 8+ years in operational/managerial roles within IP law firms or corporate IP departments
• 5+ years managing multi-disciplinary professional teams
• Deep expertise across multiple IP practice areas (trademarks, patents, copyrights, designs)

Technical Expertise

• Comprehensive knowledge of IP laws, regulations, and filing procedures
• Experience with international IP frameworks (Madrid Protocol, PCT, Paris Convention)
• Proficiency with IP management software (CPI, Anaqua, Clarivate, or similar)
• Strong understanding of IP office procedures and prosecution processes
• Budget management and financial oversight capabilities
