About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You’re equally comfortable explaining your team’s analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Lead Technical Program Manager within Privacy, Safety and Security (PSS), you will be responsible for managing complex, multi-faceted projects from conception to launch. You will work closely with product managers, software engineers, cross-functional partners to define technical solutions, enhance development velocity while preserving privacy and security and deliver foundational systems for customers across Alphabet.

In this role, you will proactively guide a portfolio of projects to build and drive the secure adoption of platforms. These platforms will enable Alphabet’s Product Areas, Bets, and acquisitions to build hybrid and cloud-native systems, creating an engineering experience that fundamentally improves development velocity. As GCP’s capabilities rapidly grow, Alphabet’s engineering teams must adapt to new industry practices and a highly competitive landscape. Our goal is to make Alphabet the most sophisticated user of GCP and other public cloud technologies. This strategic position is key to delivering these powerful new capabilities to engineering teams safely and at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $192,000-$278,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in partnership with technical leads and product management. Build detailed project plans, manage dependencies, track progress against milestones, and proactively manage risks and mitigation strategies to ensure timely delivery.
  • Drive alignment with cross-functional engineering partners, product managers, and other program managers. Be responsible for managing technical dependencies, resource planning, and ensuring all teams are aligned on a common plan.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and strategic updates to stakeholders at all levels, from individual contributors to leadership. Facilitate technical discussions, design reviews, and planning meetings to resolve ambiguity and drive decision making.
  • Define, implement, and evolve our best practices for program execution and project delivery. Identify and drive process improvements that allow the team to scale and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
