Responsibilities
- The Specialist Physician shares the same responsibility of the Consultant Physician for delivering high quality, evidence-based and patient-centred care. The post holder is expected to be an example of clinical excellence within the Division and contributes to the supervision and training of junior medical staff.
Responsibilities (continued)
- Under the supervision of the Consultant Physician, diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty. The Specialist’s clinical duties include but are not limited to the following: assists in supervising junior medical staff and jointly assumes responsibility for the care they provide; complies with hospital policies regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices; utilizes resources appropriately; leads ward rounds; reassesses inpatients and outpatients regularly; documents clinical information clearly and timely; reviews investigation results and adjusts treatment as required; liaises with other medical specialties and support services; participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to plan safe and holistic care; ensures preparation for procedures including informed consent; accepts clinically appropriate referrals; supports on-call coverage on a rotational basis; communicates with patients and families; maintains a collaborative team-based approach; performs other clinical responsibilities as assigned.
SEHA Compliance
- Complying consistently with facility policies, procedures and practices and ensuring alignment with SEHA facilities policies
SEHA Qualifications
- Qualifications from Tier 1, or Tier 2, or Tier 3
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) with specialization in Pediatrics
- Fellowship or subspecialty certification in Pediatric Critical Care or equivalent
- Minimum of 3–5 years of post-specialization experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
- Valid DOH (Department of Health – Abu Dhabi) License or eligibility
- Experience in JCI-accredited hospitals preferred
- Strong clinical decision-making skills and ability to work in high-pressure environments
- Currently based in the UAE or willing to relocate to Al Ain
