The Poultry Veterinarian specializes in the health management and disease prevention of poultry flocks. They conduct regular health assessments, diagnose illnesses, and administer treatments or vaccinations to maintain optimal flock health and productivity. This role includes monitoring biosecurity protocols, advising on nutrition, housing, and hygiene practices, and implementing preventative health programs to reduce disease risk.

Beyond clinical responsibilities, the Poultry Veterinarian collaborates with farm managers and staff to design and enforce flock health strategies, ensures compliance with animal welfare and veterinary regulations, and maintains detailed medical and production records. Their expertise in diagnosing poultry-specific diseases, combined with strong analytical and communication skills, ensures sustainable operations and high standards of animal care.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, with specialization or experience in poultry health
  2. Proven knowledge of poultry anatomy, physiology, and common diseases
  3. Experience in vaccination programs, biosecurity measures, and disease outbreak management
  4. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  5. Familiarity with poultry nutrition and housing systems
  6. Excellent communication skills to work with farm staff and management
  7. Ability to maintain accurate medical and health records
  8. Willingness to travel between farm sites as required
