The QC Engineer – Welding is responsible for monitoring and inspecting welding activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and quality standards. This includes reviewing welding procedures, inspecting weld joints, and coordinating non-destructive testing (NDT) to detect defects. The engineer works closely with welding teams and supervisors to enforce quality control measures and resolve any issues promptly. Additionally, the QC Engineer maintains detailed inspection records, supports welding procedure qualifications, and participates in audits to verify adherence to safety and quality requirements. Strong technical expertise in welding processes, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential to maintain structural integrity and project standards.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and inspect welding activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and quality standards.
• Review welding procedures, inspect weld joints, and coordinate non-destructive testing (NDT) to detect defects.
• Enforce quality control measures with welding teams and supervisors and resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain detailed inspection records, support welding procedure qualifications, and participate in audits to verify adherence to safety and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with welding teams to maintain structural integrity and project standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering (or related discipline)
• 5+ years of experience in welding inspection and quality control, preferably in oil & gas or heavy industry
• In-depth knowledge of welding codes and standards (AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, API 1104, ISO)
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent qualification preferred
• Proficiency in reviewing WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications
• Familiarity with NDT methods and ability to interpret results
• Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills
• Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance in all welding activities
