Economist Middle East and North Africa

The Team

We provide macro‑economic forecasting, modelling, and country risk analysis used by senior executives in multinational corporations, governments, NGOs, and supranational organisations. Our solutions support ministries of Finance, Central Banks, Trade, Innovation, Foreign Affairs, and Defence.

Your Role

You will be a key member of the S&P Global Market Intelligence forecasting team, reporting to the head of the MENA team. You will analyse forecasts and consult on key MENA economies.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor and report on economic and financial developments in several MENA countries.
  • Forecast economic conditions using S&P Global Market Intelligence economic models.
  • Interact and collaborate with other S&P Global Market Intelligence teams.
  • Contribute to outlooks and risk publications, including monthly headline analysis and quarterly reports.
  • Author insightful, in‑depth reports on topics of interest to customers.
  • Support customer briefings at conferences, onsite presentations, and webcasts.
  • Respond to internal and external client inquiries.
  • Participate in regular calls with colleagues and customers during European & US business hours.
  • Support commercial expansion by accompanying sales representatives to client and prospect meetings in the region.

Job Requirements

Your key qualifications and skills include:

  • Ph.D. or master’s degree in economics or a closely related field with rigorous coursework.
  • 7–10 years of relevant work experience, whether in a commercial or academic setting.
  • Prior experience monitoring and forecasting economies in the MENA region.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic
  • Strong analytical proficiency and comfort with quantitative analysis, advanced forecasting tools, and international economic data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of producing in‑depth macroeconomic analysis.
  • Interest in communicating cutting‑edge economic ideas to a non‑professional audience.
  • Strong command of MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of EViews and experience with econometric forecasting models is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating regularly across multiple time zones.
