Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with Android application development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience working with photos/videos, image and video manipulation, or OpenGL ES.
  • Experience building user interfaces in Android applications (Jetpack Compose UI).

In this role, you will be a part of the Photos Reminiscing’s team, whose mission is to help showcase your life story, so you can explore and enjoy the moments that shaped you. Your responsibilities include development of the Photos Memories feature launched in 2019, as memories help users look back at moments big and small.

As a Senior Software Engineer on our Android team, you will be focused on improving the visual aesthetic of memories and shipping new experiences that spark joy for our users (like our end of year Recap and new genAI creative tooling).

This role offers a high degree of autonomy wherein you will be empowered to make key decisions, drive impactful initiatives, and shape the direction of our Reminiscing experiences.Google Photos is a photo sharing and storage service developed by Google. Photos is one of the most sought after products at Google and is looking for both client-side (web and mobile), with server-side (search, storage, serving) and machine intelligence (learning, computer vision) Software Engineers. We are dedicated to making Google experiences centered around the user.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$255,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to help refine our team’s technical goal, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall Google Photos goals.
  • Deliver high-quality experiences, through both direct contributions and partnering with your team, that delight users and contribute to the continued success of Google Photos.
  • Establish and promote software engineering best practices, balancing code health with project velocity and maintainability.
