Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with building products that effectively use large language models (LLMs), AI agents, and machine learning.
  • Experience with micro services/containers with a focus on Google application building platforms.
  • Experience with Google’s product/platform release process.

As a Software Engineer on the DevAI team, you will be working closely with UX, product management, and other engineers to build consistent high quality products across multiple Google projects as well as incorporating the latest artificial intelligence technologies in the process of supercharging Google’s software engineering productivity.

We currently use several frameworks including Wiz and Soy. Our primary focus is to design and implement last mile solutions for leveraging the latest AI technology in the software development lifecycle. In this role, you will be responsible for participating in the design and development of components and features across multiple products.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside UX, program management, and engineering peers on prioritization, design, and implementation of platform and product features.
  • Write design documents, and actively provide feedback on teammates’ design documents.
  • Create new features, release them, and measure success.
  • Help investigate and resolve production issues.
  • Help shape the culture of the team and promote psychological safety.
