Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
  • 10 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
  • 10 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
  • 10 years of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to work with technical and cross-functional or structured teams.
  • Excellent communication skills.

About the job

Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google’s users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

In this role, you will help to ensure that our software and systems are designed and implemented to the highest security standards. You will oversee technical security assessments, code reviews and vulnerability testing to highlight risk, helping Google teams and partners to improve security, and work to secure a wide variety of software designs and technology stacks.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop security strategy for Google Cloud Platform and Alphabet AI products.
  • Perform security reviews of protocols and systems; actively research and reproduce vulnerabilities using techniques like reverse engineering, fuzzing, and static analysis; and respond to discovered vulnerabilities with repros, variant analysis, mitigations, and hardening.
  • Design secure protocols and systems (defense-in-depth, security-by-default); write tests and fuzzers to prove security efficacy; and contribute to developing secure operational practices.
  • Review designs and drive towards defense in-depth and security by default through both one-time reviews and longer-term engagements; provide security guidance for engineers and support staff; and create and drive sustainable risk reduction strategies.
  • Act as a technical leader by mentoring security engineers and other technical leaders within the organization.
