Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, reports, specifications.
  • Review submittals, revert with comments, ensure comments are addressed.
  • Respond to RFIs.
  • Attend meetings.
  • Coordinate with relevant team members to ensure all documents are properly controlled.
  • Review materials and propose alternatives/recommendations.
  • Review variations.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and design using common building materials.
  • Report writing and documentation skills.
  • Process construction documentation, respond to RFIs, and comment on engineering submittals.
  • Review engineering designs and provide input on their suitability; advise on changes if required during the engineering phase.
  • Contribute to designs produced by GHD to ensure the contractor has a well-coordinated set of drawings.
  • Ensure QA/QC procedures are followed during project execution.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver innovative and value-driven solutions that meet the client’s requirements.
  • Assist Project Managers in monitoring and driving progress.
  • Manage BIM technicians and mentor graduate engineers.
  • Undertake structural inspections and report on material and construction defects; provide guidance for remedial repairs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Line Manager/RE/PM.
  • External communications: support and advise on external communications systems as needed.
  • Construction management: supervise others on a construction project, following established operational systems.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: follow HSE policies, identify risks, and instruct the team in safe working methods; escalate serious issues as appropriate.
  • Work scheduling and allocation: assign short-term work schedules to a team of subordinates to meet timelines.
  • Leadership and direction: communicate the action plan and motivate the team to achieve local business goals.
  • Performance management: engage in objective setting and monitor team performance to ensure timely and quality delivery.
  • Organizational capability building: provide coaching to team members to develop their skills.
  • Quality assurance: plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes; implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Operational compliance: identify and escalate noncompliance with policies and regulatory codes.
  • Client & customer management (external): support senior colleagues in managing client relationships using relevant systems.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Level

Experience

  • General Experience: 3 to 6 years; experience enabling the candidate to handle a range of situations and advise others.
