Minimum qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience programming in C++.
  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
  • Experience in data analysis.
  • Experience in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

As a Software Engineer in the Apps, Video and Display (AViD) Resource Efficiency and Machine Intelligence team, you’ll conduct analysis that measures machine costs and determines who is responsible for those costs, get product input from stakeholders, design and implement cost attribution instrumentations in both serving and offline systems, data processing, collection, and visualization via dashboards.

We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software for logs, offline systems and machine resource intelligence.
  • Implement features and system improvements ensuring code quality, test coverage, and production readiness.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues in complex distributed systems.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with other engineers within the team and with partner teams to deliver on project goals.
