About the job
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that Google Cloud’s services—both our internally critical and our externally-visible systems—have reliability, uptime appropriate to customer’s needs and a fast rate of improvement. Additionally SRE’s will keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems capacity and performance.
The Data Analytics (DA) Site Reliability Engineerin (SRE) organization is responsible for the reliability of both Cloud and Technical Infrastructure (TI) services. We partner cross-functionally to deliver DA customer reliability and scalability to achieve admirable customer satisfaction via architectural improvements.
Pub/Sub SRE supports critical message bus technology for internal Google (e.g. ads, search, photos) and some of the large Google Cloud Platform (GCP) customers by providing reliability engineering and operational support. We provide customers with dependable, low-latency, high throughput, and cost effective global and regional message bus services.
Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google’s product portfolio possible. We’re proud to be our engineers’ engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
Responsibilities
- Write product or system development code.
- Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
