We are looking for experienced and qualified Teaching and Learning Assistants to join our team! Westfield Nursery is a purpose-built Nursery located in City Walk with state-of-the-art facilities. The right candidate should meet the following requirements:
- Must have Cache level 1, 2 or 3 depending on the position applied for
- At least 2 years of experience working in a Nursery
- Excellent English (writing and speaking)
Duties and responsibilities
This position involves providing both educational and emotional support for children, ensuring their well-being, and helping them grow academically and socially. Below are the key duties and responsibilities of a teaching assistant:
- Child Care and Supervision
- Provide a Safe Environment: Ensure the child’s safety at all times, both inside and outside the home.
- Basic Care: Help with daily tasks like dressing, bathing, feeding, and changing diapers for younger children.
- Nap Time and Sleep Supervision: Establish and maintain a consistent sleep schedule for younger children.
- Educational Support
- Skill Development: Foster cognitive, motor, language, and social skills through fun and engaging activities, including art, reading, games, or music.
- Promote Literacy and Numeracy: Help children develop reading and math skills, using various teaching techniques.
- Monitor Progress: Track the child’s academic and developmental progress, and report back to parents regularly.
- Emotional Support and Social Development
- Provide Emotional Care: Offer comfort and reassurance when the child is feeling upset, stressed, or frustrated.
- Encourage Socialization: Facilitate playdates, interactions with peers, and participation in group activities to build social skills.
- Teach Conflict Resolution: Help children resolve disputes peacefully and encourage cooperative behavior.
- Household Duties Related to Child Care
- Light Housekeeping: Perform tasks related to the child’s care, such as cleaning up after meals, doing the child’s laundry, and organizing toys and school materials.
- Health and Hygiene Monitoring
- Monitor Health: Keep track of the child’s health, including any allergies, medications, or special needs.
- First Aid and Emergency Care: Be prepared to handle basic first aid and know how to respond to emergencies (e.g., minor injuries, illness, or allergic reactions).
- Personalized Support
- Adapting to Individual Needs: Understand each child’s unique learning style and needs, and adjust educational activities and care accordingly.
