Job Purpose

To conduct and contribute to learning, teaching, and knowledge transfer to benefit students, the School, the University and the wider community.

Main Responsibilities

Learning and Teaching

  1. Lead the development and review of curricula and programmes through liaison with colleagues in Dubai and London.
  2. Ensure that the curriculum is at the forefront of knowledge and reflects the latest research insights and materials.
  3. Lead the development of innovative approaches to learning and teaching.
  4. Coach and develop others in teaching methods and practice.
  5. Deliver high quality teaching to students at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  6. Lead initiatives to enhance student experience and outcomes.
  7. Provide academic advice and counselling.
  8. Supervise dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  9. Liaise closely with teaching, technical and administrative staff as appropriate to ensure a quality teaching and learning environment.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  1. Appropriate academic qualifications at postgraduate level (normally a doctorate or equivalent) in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Business Information Systems.
  2. Understanding of machine learning algorithms and techniques.
  3. Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and software such as R, Python, SAS, or SPSS.
  4. Knowledge of data visualization tools like Power BI and Tableau.
  5. Familiarity with database querying languages like SQL.
  6. Proven ability to deliver high quality teaching across the general curriculum of one or more of the following areas:
  7. Business Analytics
  8. Data Science
  9. Statistics
  10. Natural Language Processing
  11. Data Ethics, Security, and Privacy
  12. Evidence of competence in the fields mentioned above and a track record of research outputs, normally of high international standing, commensurate for stage of career.
  13. Track record of innovation in teaching and learning, reflected in design, delivery and promotion of good professional practice.
  14. Ability to engage students and staff, and to motivate them to perform at their best.
  15. Proven record of success in undertaking, supervising and managing research activity, including Masters supervision.

Additional Experience

  1. Previous experience working in business analytics, data analysis, or a related field is highly desirable.
  2. Experience applying analytical techniques to real-world business problems.
  3. Familiarity with various industries and their analytics needs, such as marketing analytics, financial analytics, operations analytics, HR analytics, etc.
  4. Familiarity with big data analysis and cloud-based platforms like Microsoft Azure.
  5. Proven record of success in undertaking, supervising and managing research activity, with at least some experience of student supervision.
  6. Evidence of ability to attract research and knowledge transfer funding.
  7. Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education, or equivalent teaching qualification.
