Job Opportunity: Head – Technology Transfer & Commercialisation (TTO)

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Technology Transfer & Commercialization to lead the development and management of a high-impact Technology Transfer Office (TTO) within a leading academic healthcare innovation ecosystem in the UAE.

This senior leadership role will drive the identification, protection, development, and commercialization of intellectual property and innovation outputs arising from research, clinical practice, digital health initiatives, and health design activities.

The role will play a key part in building a sustainable innovation pipeline and enabling real-world impact through licensing, spin‑outs, partnerships, and investment‑ready health technologies.

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement institutional strategy for intellectual property management, technology transfer, and commercialization .
• Establish and scale a professional Technology Transfer Office supporting biomedical, clinical, digital health, and health design innovations.
• Contribute to financial planning and portfolio development to generate sustainable commercial income and enterprise growth.
• Develop governance frameworks, policies, and procedures aligned with international best practices and UAE regulatory requirements.

Intellectual Property Management

• Lead identification, evaluation, and protection of intellectual property including patents, software, algorithms, data assets, copyright, and design rights.
• Implement structured invention disclosure and innovation evaluation processes across research and clinical departments.Manage the institutional IP portfolio, including oversight of patent attorneys and specialist advisors.
• Ensure robust IP strategies within research collaborations and industry partnerships.

Commercialization & Technology Transfer

• Lead negotiation and execution of licensing agreements, option agreements, assignments, and digital solution deployment contracts.
• Oversee spin‑out and startup formation, including equity structuring and governance frameworks.
• Provide strategic guidance on technology valuation, deal structuring, and commercialization strategy.
• Identify and secure translational and proof‑of‑concept funding to advance innovations toward market readiness.

Innovation Partnerships

• Build strategic relationships with industry partners, healthcare organizations, investors, and regulatory bodies.
• Enable commercialization pathways for biomedical innovations, AI tools, digital health platforms, medical devices, and service design solutions.
• Represent the organization in regional and international innovation ecosystems.

Leadership & Governance

• Lead and develop the Technology Transfer and commercialization team.
• Establish KPIs across the innovation pipeline including IP filings, licenses executed, spin‑outs created, funding secured, and revenue generated.
• Provide strategic reporting to senior leadership on portfolio performance and commercialization outcomes.

Qualifications

• MBA with specialization in entrepreneurship, finance, strategy, or commercial management.
• Master’s degree in Law, Innovation Management, Intellectual Property, Biomedical Sciences, Engineering, Digital Health, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Professional certifications such as RTTP, AUTM, or equivalent technology transfer/IP credentials are highly desirable.

• 10–15 years of experience in intellectual property management, technology transfer, and commercialization.
• Proven track record in patent strategy, licensing negotiations, and spin‑out company development.
• Experience engaging with investors, venture capital, and industry partners.
• Minimum 5 years of team leadership experience.
