AECOM is seeking a dynamic and growth-oriented Data Center Market Sector Leader for the Middle East & Africa (MEA) to drive strategic expansion client engagement and delivery excellence across one of the fastest-growing global infrastructure markets. This role will lead market development efforts, oversee major pursuits, strengthen key client relationships and build a high-performing regional data center practice in partnership with AECOM’s global technology leadership.

The successful candidate will bring deep industry knowledge, strong commercial instincts and the ability to mobilize multidisciplinary teams to deliver world-class outcomes for hyperscale colocation and enterprise data center clients.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Growth and Market Development

  • Influence and implement the MEA data centre market strategy leveraging AECOM’s global platform expertise and delivery capabilities.
  • Attract and secure new data centre clients while building and maintaining a robust opportunity pipeline in partnership with global technology market sector leadership and client account managers.
  • Participate in and help drive innovation initiatives to differentiate AECOM and respond to emerging market trends (e.g. design automation, decarbonization, renewable energy integration, liquid cooling, rack densification).
  • Lead and grow AECOM’s data centre business across all business lines and services including due diligence, master planning, data centre/power/water infrastructure design, construction management, project management, quantity surveying, environmental services etc.
  • Provide thought leadership internally and externally, strengthening AECOM’s brand as a leader in data centre development.
  • Track and deliver against key performance indicators including project bookings, executed net service revenue, gross margin and quality.

Pursuit and Proposal Leadership

  • Oversee the development of high-quality competitive and winning proposals including both technical and commercial submissions.
  • Lead client presentations, interviews and pursuit strategy sessions.
  • Drive growth of existing client accounts in collaboration with global technology market sector leaders and account management teams.
  • Work closely with AECOM’s Global and Regional Market Sector Leaders (USEurope, India, Asia, ANZ etc.) to share resources, enhance capabilities and deliver the best of AECOM to every pursuit.

Client Relationship and Client Account Management

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior executives and decision-makers at regional and global data centre organisations.
  • Serve as a senior point of escalation for key client matters ensuring responsiveness, quality and client satisfaction.
  • Travel as needed across the MEA region to support client engagement, project execution and team development priorities.

Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Hire new talent and cross‑train existing staff to strengthen technical depth and delivery capacity, fostering a culture of trust, accountability, leadership and ownership.
  • Provide oversight of a portfolio of major projects and programmes of significant scale, complexity and financial impact.
  • Ensure high‑quality, timely and profitable delivery of the regional data centre project portfolio.
  • Continuously refine delivery strategies and operational approaches to improve predictability, efficiency and quality outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering/Architecture
  • 12 years of relevant experience including 5 years in business development or leadership roles focused on data centre development/design
  • Demonstrated experience developing strong client relationships
  • Experience leading teams
