Overview

Operate various types of buses to transport students between locations, on interstate trips, and along scheduled routes. Work early morning, late evening, and weekend shifts. Fully responsible for the safety of students and for avoiding accidents.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure vehicle maintenance is performed regularly, including regular and preventative maintenance.
  • Keep records of commute times and report mechanical issues, delays, or other dilemmas.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE traffic laws and regulations governing operation of a vehicle for passenger use.
  • Follow precise schedules and adjust driving according to traffic and weather conditions to arrive at each stop at the designated time.
  • Ensure the safety of students and keep the bus in safe operating condition.
  • Pick up students at stops along established routes and drop them off at university (round).
  • Transport students and faculty to special events, such as field trips or sporting events.
  • Test brakes, tires, and other components daily and report non-routine problems or malfunctioning equipment to management.
  • Keep track of fuel used, number of students transported, and miles driven, reporting to supervisors weekly.
  • Follow specified instructions, procedures, and standards for the safe operation of the vehicle and care of passengers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school certification.
  • Two years of experience directly related to duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Valid UAE heavy bus driving license.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Very good communication skills in Arabic and/or English.
  • Active listening skills.
  • Strong knowledge of UAE roads and traffic laws governing the operation of a commercial passenger vehicle.
  • Clear driving record without traffic violations.

Working Conditions

  • Moderate exposure to elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Light physical effort; some standing or walking.
  • Exposure to hazards or physical risks requiring basic safety precautions.
  • Flexible hours as required by program needs; may be on-call, including early morning, late evening, and weekend shifts.
